Pierre Jeanneret Box Chair
Design by Pierre Jeanneret
The Pierre Jeanneret Box Chair, also known as the “Cane Seat Cane Back Office Chair,” was designed for use at the Punjab University in Chandigarh, India, circa 1960. This bold chair employs solid teak woodworking and cane-weaving into its build, and the asymmetric box style design features a distinct double-leg assembly that also serves as the armrests and bases.
In addition, two crosspieces connect the legs using traditional Indian joinery techniques. The Pierre Jeanneret Box Chair elevates any home interior, office, or studio setting with its timeless mid-century appeal.
